The following pictures were taken mid February in the backcountry surrounding Whitewater Ski Resort. The first picture is of the north face of Ymir Peak and it was taken from one of the main ski runs. This picture illustrates the various options that are available to ski (shown as red lines with the dotted portions being mandatory cliff drops), ranging from fairly easy to the more difficult. This mountain is famous around the world within the ski touring community. It has gained it's notoriety due to the fact that you can access big mountain lines with only 20 minutes of hiking and the average snowfall over the season exceeds 16 meters in depth.
The next picture is of yours truly with Seaman Peak in the background. The fourth picture is taken from within a snow cave on the summit of Ymir Peak. The last picture is of Eric and I on the top of the mountain just before we descended.Enjoy the pics and more will be posted soon.
